A- In Adam's fall
We sinned all.

B- Thy life to mend,
God's Book attend.

J- Job feels the rod,
Yet blesses God.

P- Peter denies
His Lord, and cries.

This is the alphabet explained to a child in the second largest selling book in our nation at one time, only to be succeeded by the bible! I am speaking of the New England Primer. This book was the first textbook to be sold in the colonies, it was used in public schools to teach young children how to read. Many biblical references where made in this book, to include the Ten Commandments, and the famous prayer "Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray thee, Lord, my soul to keep." I would submit that if a textbook remotely close to this book was taught in schools today that American education boards would be astronomically outraged! The very thought of it would probably offend them. American standards have changed radically in even the last hundred years, and we the people need to take a good look at the path affront of us and realize where it is taking us.

What is our national standards? This is a very important subject, because standards are very important. We have a International Bureau to protect standards of measurement, because what good is a pound if you don't have some thing to compare it against? We would have a huge problem if everyone had a different measurement for a pound, because they would have no reason to back up why a pound is a pound. In the same sense we have no reason to say some thing is wrong or right if we have nothing to have it stand up against. If arrogant ideas such as evolution are true then we have no basis for saying something is wrong or right. As America loses the foundation of our country we get closer to chaos and the destruction of ourselves!

Cody,
All I can say is...WOW. Your topic is very deep and you open yourself so well. I feel like Im reading an inspirational diary. Your writing is also very moving and speaks to people in a way as if you are someone they can confide in. Its safe to say that your blog is one that I will look foward to reading during this class.

I agree with Leslie, this was a very thought-provoking post. I really liked the historical angle you took with the primer, too. Great example.

I wonder--are you advocating a return to religion offically? How is the chaos created?
